First off, it is never a good idea todrink and drive.  Take a taxi, call a friend, or wait to sober up.  During the busy holiday season many local Los Angeles Police Departments are setting up DUI Sobriety Check Points.  Many areas that have a high volume of bars and restaurants are usually the areas that are targeted by the police to catch drunk drivers.  For more information on when and where the checkpoints will be conducted visit your local police department website and they may list this information.

If you ever find yourself at a DUI checkpoint, my first point of advice is to me calm, and be cooperative with the police officer talking to you.  Most of the DUI's are given to people who avoid the checkpoints by taking side streets, performing illegal driving tactics, etc.
